Rich has been an entrepreneur, operator, and investor since 1992. He founded or co-founded multiple businesses in the financial services, healthcare services, telecommunications, and real estate industries, collectively generating over $700 million of revenue at exit.

‍

Together with Steve Simpson, Rich leads the firm’s investment strategy and oversees the investment team responsible for research, portfolio construction, and investment management. He is focused on continually strengthening CoastEdge’s investment capabilities while identifying growth strategies for the firm and serving its clients.

Prior to CoastEdge, Rich was Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of MedSource Technologies, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed manufacturing and engineering services provider to the medical device industry.  Rich was a founding partner of Kidd & Company, a venture management firm that founded Chatham Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of custom electronic enclosure systems for the telecommunications industry.   He was also a senior executive of a $3 billion alternative asset management firm and served as Chairman of Pulse Veterinary Technologies, LLC, a worldwide leader in regenerative veterinary medicine, after leading the company’s spin-out from its corporate parent.

Rich was active in Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and has served in multiple leadership roles for non-profit organizations.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, graduating summa cum laude, and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.

Rich loves the outdoors and travel, and putting the two together when possible, whether skiing, hiking, or almost anything in the water. The Big Island of Hawaii is a special place for him and his family. Outside work you might find Rich playing golf with his wife Jessica or friends or commiserating with his three young adult children about the tragic state of Minnesota sports teams, particularly the Vikings.
