Ian is a Partner at CoastEdge and a voting member of the investment committee. He focuses primarily on sourcing and diligence across private markets and contributes to portfolio management for CoastEdge funds, monitoring performance, assessing risk, and informing allocation decisions.

‍

He also works directly with advisors on portfolio construction and strategy, translating investment views into allocation decisions tailored to client objectives. Beyond his investment responsibilities, Ian serves as a resource to client service teams, closely involved in the operational work behind the client relationship, from onboarding to ongoing account management.

While studying economics, Ian developed an interest in behavioral economics, drawing on Minsky's financial instability theory, Kahneman and Tversky's work on heuristics and cognitive bias, Thaler's mental accounting, and Shiller's analysis of market bubbles. This lens continues to shape his approach as an allocator, where identifying mispricing driven by bias and anticipating credit and sentiment cycles are central to sourcing opportunities and managing risk.

Before joining CoastEdge, Ian worked with institutional investors, providing investment solutions, portfolio management, and client service. Most recently, he was an investment product specialist at Allianz Global Investors. Prior to that, he worked at Meketa Investment Group as an analyst on the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) team, where he supported the management of $15 billion in assets on behalf of foundations, endowments, and pension plans.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife, whom he met in college, and their daughter and son. As a family, they enjoy weekends and vacations at the beach or outdoors, camping and staying active together.
